Bimetallic Injection Barrel

When a nitrided barrel wears through in eighteen months, the fix is not a harder nitriding cycle — it is a different bore. Our bimetallic barrels are centrifugally cast with a 2–5 mm alloy layer bonded to the steel body, then finish bored and honed.

Typical service life on glass-filled nylon is three to five times that of gas-nitrided steel. We line both new barrels and, where the body is sound, customer-supplied ones.

Applications for This Injection Screw Barrel

Common Questions

Questions Buyers Ask About This Product

How thick should the alloy layer be?

2 mm covers most filled resins; 3–5 mm for heavy glass loading or recycled feedstock. We recommend based on your resin and expected annual output.

Can you reline my worn barrel?

If the body is not cracked or oval beyond recovery, yes. Send it in and we measure first — we will tell you honestly if relining is not worth the freight.

Do you provide a material certificate?

Yes, an MTC with heat number and hardness readings ships with every bimetallic barrel. Third-party inspection (SGS / TÜV) can be arranged at your cost.
