Calcium carbonate is abrasive and recycled PVC carries contamination. Together they take a nitrided bore down fast. An alloy-lined twin set is the standard answer for high-filler and recycled formulations.
Both bores centrifugally lined with 2–5 mm alloy, honed, paired with hardfaced screws and matched as a set.

The honest answer depends on your resin, not on price. Here is how we advise customers.

On filled or recycled PVC, almost always — the cost is recovered in fewer stoppages and fewer replacements. On virgin PVC, nitrided is usually enough and we will say so.
Above roughly 20–30 phr calcium, or any significant recycle content. Below that, nitrided is fine.
